Gottlieb Painting

A Depression Era oil painting on board by Harry Gottlieb (1895-1993), USA. Gottlieb emigrated from Bucharest in 1908, moved to New York in 1918 and became a Social Realist Painter. He worked for the Fine Arts Project of the WPA from 1935-1940. His work is in the Whitney Museum, Brooklyn Museum, Museum of Modern Art and others. This painting of a working man's shoes dates from the 1930s and measures 21" x 17". It's presented in a wood frame with pewter filet.
